Join us next Friday from 5-7pm at The Bay City Arts Center for a gallery reception featuring the work of two local artists, including artwork by Lydia Hess and photography by Robbie McClaran. This monthly event is free and open to the public.
Robbie McClaran: Beginning in 2013, and working with an antique eight-by-ten, large format camera, Robbie McClaran has been photographing along the entire 1250-mile length of the Columbia River, from its source in British Columbia to its confluence with the Pacific Ocean. “The Great River of the West”, explores the River’s current cultural and economic landscape as well as environmental alterations.
Lydia Hess: Lydia Hess looks to the natural world and iconic symbols for inspiration in her artwork. She has worked with carved clay-board, and block prints for many years as a commercial illustrator. After being introduced to the unexpected spontaneity of monotype printmaking, she was inspired to infuse these colorful, textural compositions with her graphic carved images.
