DESCRIPTION:Get to Know Your Sewing Machine! with Cindy Erickson and Heart of CARTM \n  \nSaturday\, August 29\, 2026 \n1:00–4:00 PM \nHoC Studio | 395C Nehalem Blvd\, Wheeler\, OR \nAbout the Class Beginner-friendly\, hands-on class to learn sewing machine setup\, care\, and stitching basics—then create something new using reclaimed materials. This class is designed for you to learn on your own sewing machine\, so please bring yours (including the manual) to use during the session. \nWhat You’ll Learn \n\nThe basic parts of your sewing machine and what they do\nHow to thread your machine and wind a bobbin\nHow to adjust tension for smooth stitching\nEssential machine care and maintenance\nHow to use basic stitches to complete a simple project\n\nWhat to Bring Your own portable sewing machine (in good working order) and its instruction manual. If you don’t have the manual in hand\, they are widely available for download online. Scissors and thread will be provided\, but you’re welcome to bring your own if preferred. All other materials will be provided. \nPlease Note Class begins promptly at 1:00pm. To keep things flowing smoothly for everyone\, please plan to arrive a few minutes early to get settled before we start. \nKeep in Mind Learning to sew is like learning to play an instrument—it takes time and practice. Once you understand the basics\, your skills (and imagination) will grow with every project. This class is a perfect starting point for future sustainable sewing workshops at HoC
